Registered Exporter (REX)
With the introduction of the Registered Exporter system, the Certificate of Origin (Form A) will be replaced by a Statement on Origin (SoO). During a transitional period until the end of 2020, both Form A and SoO are permitted as declarations of origin, depending on the country. (see REX country list)
This requires the exporter to be registered and is then given a unique REX number. This number must be indicated in each declaration of origin.
Consignments of preferential products from developing countries and valid proof of origin can be split in Switzerland for onward shipment to the European Union (EU) or Norway under customs control. With the introduction of the Registered Exporter (REX) system, the substitute proof of origin Form A will be replaced by a (substitute) Statement of Origin (SoO). Companies in Switzerland that previously applied for substitute Form A certificates of origin must register as REX to issue a Statement of Origin (SoO) for such shipments.
