New Computerised Transit System (NCTS)
NCTS (New Computerised Transit System) is the IT system of the Common Transit Procedure (CTP). It is mainly used for transit goods in road transport and is mandatory for international transit. The transit procedure is processed electronically.
This does not apply to transport carried out under the simplified procedure by rail, air, sea or pipeline.
In Switzerland, the NCTS system is also used for national transit. A national transit is mandatory if goods in non-free circulation have to be transported within Switzerland.
Examples:
Goods that are transported from a open customs warehouse to Zurich airport to leave Switzerland by air freight.
Third country goods that are moved from one authorised consignee to another.
